Description of Course:
Thy material in this course Identifies various screening for
the purpose of making appropriate program referral within
the criminal justice system. The course also discucesses
the criminal justice setting and the special issues
addressing this population. Included in the reading material
are ethical issues relating to working with adult offenders
who abuse alcohol and other drugs.
Course Objectives:
After taking this course the student will be able to:
1) Identify numerous tools used in the screening and
assessing of adults in the criminal justice system
2) Describe the criminal justice setting and evaluate
screening, assessment and treatment planning that should
occur
3) Explain the special issues addressing this population and
relevant incorporation into the treatment plan
4) Have knowledge of and explain what ethical issues relate
to the substance abusing adult offender
